S.W.A.T. team sniper. A dark past. Evil supernatural events. Laurel Hightower's debut novel has all of this. So why haven't I used any exclamation points yet?
I simply could not get into this book. Around 1/3 of the way through I started skimming passages which I VERY RARELY do. I do believe that there was a good story here, but it was buried under too many words and couldn't dig its way out. It really is a shame because there were a number of good ideas in the story. Unfortunately, writing a book that is too "fluffy" is a cardinal sin in my book.
I appreciate the home run attempt here, but the ball stays in the park
