Cavallaro's Cavalcade of Carnage
I only read 8 books this month, which is probably my lowest monthly total in years. It also doesn't help that some of these books were rather large.

Nevertheless, it's judgement time. First, the good news...

BEST OF THE MONTH:

Unspeakable Things, by Jess Lourey

It was going to be this, or Matt Haig's The Midnight Library. I had a really hard time choosing, but Lourey's dark murder mystery was a seriously compulsive read. Highly recommended.

WORST OF THE MONTH:

Bad Girl in the Box, by Tim Curran

This was an easy choice, as it was the only D grade of the month. I've already said what I have to say about it: http://horrordrive-in.com/serendipity2021/index.php?/archives/1324-Bad-Girl-in-the-Box,-by-Tim-Curran.html
The rest:

Malignant Summer, by Tim Meyer. Coming-of-age, but not my fave from Meyer. Grade: C
The Midnight Library, by Matt Haig. Another brilliant one from Haig. Grade: A
Premeditated Myrtle, by Elizabeth Bunce. Middle grade mystery. Grade: C
Spectre Deep 6, by Jennifer Brody (graphic novel). Excellent character arcs, may continue reading this series. Grade: B
My Heart is a Chainsaw, by Stephen Graham Jones. Great idea, great writing, a little slow moving. Grade: C
The Book of Accidents, by Chuck Wendig. Another one with great ideas, but ultimately too slow for me. Grade: C

That's it! Send your complaints to my email.
