BEST BOOK OF THE MONTH

Winter Counts, by David Heska Wanbli

This was a close call with Alyssa Cole's When No One is Watching. Both of them are very much worth your time. And both are Anthony Award nominees. Winter Counts was like a Native American-themed grindhouse film. Gritty, dark, and fun.

WORST BOOK OF THE MONTH

Murder at the Mena House, by Erica Ruth Neubauer

Boring, with uninteresting characters. Couldn't get into it

I read 11 total this month. Here are the rest:

Little Secrets, by Jennifer Hillier. Probably the third best book I read this month. Grade: B
Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe Again, by Cullen Bunn. Not quite as fun as the title suggests. Grade: C
When No One is Watching, by Alyssa Cole. Great mystery. Grade: B
And Now She's Gone, by Rachel Howzell Hall. Not bad, but forgettable. Grade: C
American Sherlock, by Kate Winkler Dawson. Non-fiction about the history of forensics. Grade: C
Unspeakable Acts, (anthology). Nice true crime antho. Grade: B
The First to Lie, by Hank Phillipe Ryan. Too convoluted of a myster. Grade: D
The Eternals,by Jack Kirby. I can't get into a lot of these 70s comics. Grade: D
First Person Singular, by Haruki Murakami. Good collection, my first Murakami. Grade: B
