I've heard good things about Cooper's collection, Human Pieces, so I thought I'd take a chance on this forthcoming novella from Cemetery Dance.
This will fit firmly in the "folk horror" section of your bookcase. In fact, it reminded me of Shyamalan's film, The Village.
There are a lot of things to like here: great setting/atmosphere, great characters, and an excellent premise. However, it did feel a little bloated in places. There were a few sections where character motivations were a little over-explained.
For the folk horror people, this is a tiny complaint. You will love this.
For me, it was good, but not great.
