Kyle Lybeck's Literary Lair Randy Jones was a formidable street racer. He had his girl, he had his crew, and he had his '72 Olds, lovingly named Midnight Beauty. A night's events can change someone forever, and Randy finds this out the hard way. A street race gone horribly awry, which leaves Randy with disastrous burns, a deep loss, and a newfound knowledge which he wishes he didn't gain. He now knows of The Red Plane, where others don't. He can see what it is doing, he understands where it's trying to go. As it aims to envelop our world, what can Randy do to stop it, if anything? All will reveal itself upon the Death Highway.

I was acquainted with J.C. Walsh only through social media up until Scares That Care 2022, in which we sat a few feet apart as new door tablemates. An energetic, extremely nice man, with a love for metal music that took us into hours of conversation. I decided I wanted to try out one of his books, so I leaned over and snagged this one off his table to peruse the back cover, and see if it piqued my interest. It did, and here I am now writing a review for the book. While starting out a little slow, it gains traction, and then really picks up about halfway through. The horror is both traditional and cosmic, taking some interesting turns along the way. It's a good tale, with some fun characters, and keeps you interested up to the end. Overall I'd give this one a B, and I'm looking forward for what J.C. puts out in the future.
