Cavallaro's Cavalcade of Carnage
Real life is encroaching on my book life at an alarming rate, so let's speed up this process.

13 books read in November.

BEST OF THE MONTH: Superman: Earth One Vol 3 by Michael J Straczynski/Adrian Syaf (graphic novel)

Mike and Adrian have really done something special with the Earth One series. This is superhero comics at its absolute pinnacle, and I consider it to be the definitive version of Superman as well. It doesn't hurt that Syaf's art is amazing either.

WORST OF THE MONTH: The First Days by Rhiannon Frater

I know that this zombie story has spawned multiple sequels, so I'm perfectly capable of accepting that it's me and not you. I didn't connect with the protagonists and the action sequences weren't affecting me.

The rest:

Never Have I Ever by Isabel Yap (collection). Good collection of dark fantasy stories. Grade: B
Dark Corner by Brandon Massey. I don't remember anything about it, which means it was average. Grade: C
The Stars My Destination by Alfred Bester. The classic. Not for me. Grade: C
We Never Talk About My Brother by Peter S Beagle (collection). Author of The Last Unicorn. Grade: C
A Child Alone With Strangers by Philip Fracassi. Fracassi's best work so far. Grade: B
Bones and All by Camille DeAngelis. A YA cannibal love story. Grade: B
The Emperor's Soul by Brandon Sanderson. I don't think I'll read The Way of Kings. Grade: C
The Devil in Silver by Victor LaValle. Should hit Apple TV soon, but I'm looking forward to The Changeling adaptation more. Grade: C
Severance by Ling Ma. Highbrow zombie apocalypse. Grade: C
Gotham by Midnight: We do not sleep by Fawkes/Templesmith (graphic novel). Not my favorite Batman spinoff. Grade: C
The Year's Best Dark Fantasy and Horror ed Paula Guran (anthology) every once in a while I remind myself that I don't like anthologies. Grade: C

That's it! I have some time off in December, so should be action-packed on the book front.

Stay tuned!
