Cavallaro's Cavalcade of Carnage
As far as I know, this is Chad's second foray into crime fiction. The first being The Neon Owl.

Both have Chad's signature breakneck speed, which is a pre-requisite in crime fiction. Unfortunately, I felt removed from the characters in this one. I don't know why. I just didn't root for Three-Smile Mile's protagonist, Cake, as much as I usually would in a Lutzke story. The villain checked off all of the appropriate boxes too, but I wasn't fully invested in him either.

However, I did read it in only two sittings, which does mean something.

If you're in the mood for an extremely fast paced, easy crime read, this is the one. But only if you've already read the Don Winslows and S.A. Cosbys in your TBR pile.

Grade: C
