Cavallaro's Cavalcade of Carnage
I still don't have my reading numbers up to what I'm accustomed to, but after a busy October, I'm expecting more free time in November and December to close out the year.

BEST OF THE MONTH

Lizard Wine by Elizabeth Engstrom

A lesser-known book from one of the genre's masters. Expert-level suspense.

WORST OF THE MONTH

How to Survive a Horror Story by Mallory Arnold

Too many characters, and none of them interesting enough to make me turn pages.

The rest:

The Lamb by Lucy Rose. One of those "literary" horror novels. Not bad, but I feel like 4 things actually happened in 336 pages.  Grade:  C

Feral, vol 3 by Tony Fleecs/Trish Forstner (graphic novel).  Feral is the gift that keeps on giving. Grade:  B

Over my Dead Body by Jay Faerber/Simone Guglielmini (graphic novel).  This is more of a crime comic (sue me), but is great. For fans of Brubaker's work.  Grade:  B

Into the Wolves Den by Jon Athan. As a splatterpunk/extreme horror fan, it shouldn't have taken me long to read this. I could've skipped it.  Grade:  C

When They Fade by Jeyn Roberts. Like The Lovely Bones, but better.  Grade:  B

Shoot Me in the Face on a Beautiful Day by Emma E Murray. Sparks of brilliance here and there, but just a little too long. Grade:  C

Stolen Tongues by Felix Blackwell. Felt like a handful of orchestrated scary images, but with a thin plot holding it together. Grade:  C
