Insidious Not-bad haunted house story that is weakened by an overwrought finale. Nice to see a successful, original horror movie made for only a million-and-a-half bucks.
Arthur I have a slight desire to see this remake. My expectations are very low, so I might like it.
Battle Beyond the Stars 30th Anniversary Edition Yes! This Roger Corman quickie was knocked out in order to cash in on the Star Wars craze. Guess what? It's better than Lucas's film! Written by John Sayles and starring Richard (John Boy) Thomas, George Peppard, Robert Vaughn, John Saxon, and Sybil Danning. From the very good people at Shout! Factory.
Damnation Alley First-ever DVD of this 1977 adaptation of the Roger Zelazny novel of the same name. Zelazny disowned the film, but I always kind of liked it. Starring Jan-Michael Vincent, George Peppard, Jackie Earle Haley, and Paul Winfield. This Shout! Factory edition features three new documentaries.
Women in Prison Triple Pack: Chained Heat, Red Heat, Jungle Warriors Three decent titles for fans of the time-honored bimbos behind bars genre.
[REC] 2 Spanish language sequel to the successful [REC], which was remade as Quarantine. Not recommended for those that get seasick at shaky-cam movies.
George A. Romero Presents: Deadtime Stories Vol. 1 After suffering through Survival of the Dead, I can only imagine how rotten this anthology movie is.
Dinocroc vs. Supergator People really watch this stuff? Sad to see Roger Corman reduced to making Sci-Fi Channel pap like this.
The Secret Life Of Jeffrey Dahmer I hear this 1993 indie movie about the notorious serial killer is pretty harrowing.
The Sweet Life Synapse Films presents this romantic comedy (!) from producer Roy (Street Trash) Frumkes. With Joan Jett and James Lorinz. Lorinz should have his own star on Hollywood Boulevard merely for his work on Frankenhooker and Street Trash. This is the one to see this week.
