Kyle Lybeck's Literary Lair
Well that my friends was a ride through a lot of genres in one short story collection. This newest collection from Glen Krisch hits on many points to tickle your fancy.

There is the sci-fi tale 'Child Borne of Shattered Skies'. In 'Sudden Sanctuary' we find a tale of an agoraphobic woman who finds love via her web cam as the world is ending around her from a new swine flu pandemic. She finds her way to this man in the outside world, only to find it's not what she imagined. Ever thought of a futuristic world where a pit-bull could mean your death? Then you should go ahead and read 'Gleaners'. Maybe a little bizarro is your style in a tale by the name of 'Sale of a Lifetime', where a salesman who can't find anything to sell his customers, until he comes up with the bright idea of selling Time itself, only to find his first and last customer to be that of Death himself. Finally, you could round it all out with a little bit of Jack Ketchum style horror in 'Gram Knows'.

No matter what you're hoping to find in a short story collection, they would all probably be encompassed for you here in 13 stories. While a few were a little underwhelming for me, the overall fun of the other stories within made this one of the better collections I've read in a while. Glen sure is a man who knows how to blur some lines to tell a good story and envelop his readers into what he is writing.

Overall grade : B
