Cavallaro's Cavalcade of Carnage This was my first exposure to Walters and I must say that I am impressed. Walters is one of those writers that have been in my periphery for a while but I haven't taken the plunge until now (via LibraryThing's Early Readers program).

Her prose has a poetic, but concise feel to it. This is not an easy trick to pull on me; I rarely like writing with any sort of lyrical elements. For me, the highlights of the collection were "On the Other Side of the Door, Everything Changes" and "Little Girl Blue, Come Cry Your Way Home." But all of the stories were strong. Most of the stories had a strong melancholy element, for those of you that are into that. Gary Braunbeck fans could probably find something to like here. Highly recommended!
