Cavallaro's Cavalcade of Carnage
If someone were to ask me, "who is the most promising up-and-coming horror author" I'd say "Chad Lutzke."

This is only my second time reading him, but two is enough. I'm convinced. OF FOSTER HOMES AND FLIES was not only in my top ten last year (#8 out of 140!) but also one of the best coming-of-age stories I'd ever come across.

This brings us to his upcoming novella, STIRRING THE SHEETS, which is out in April from Bloodshot Books. Like OF FOSTER HOMES AND FLIES, this is a short but extremely effective character portrait of loss, loneliness, and despair. I'm again surprised at Lutzke's ability to draw a character so distinctly with so few pages to work with. Lutzke's story has equal amounts of darkness, light, and all of the grey in between.
