Cavallaro's Cavalcade of Carnage
I hate to sound like a broken record here, as I have already praised Lutzke's work, but Chad Lutzke isn't yet a household name in horror literature so you guys must not be listening. Fair enough. I'm just a reviewer. But...you also aren't taking the advice of Jack Ketchum, James Newman, Dan Padavona, or John Boden, who have all praised Lutzke.

Sorry to fuss, but if you haven't read him yet, you are already three books behind: Of Foster Homes and Flies, Wallflower, and Stirring the Sheets. It's ok. They are all novellas, so you can easily read all three before his newest, SKULLFACE BOY, hits the shelves on September 14th from Static Age books.

Speaking of SKULLFACE BOY....it's good, and you should read it. It's a coming-of-age/road trip story about a boy who....surprise!...has a skull for a face. That's all you get. I don't like to give plot points away. Just know that although it seems that Lutzke is prepping you for a bizarro-esque tale...he isn't. This is yet another emotion-filled and compulsively readable narrative from a writer that is carving his own niche in the genre.

Review by Jason Cavalaro

I'm only giving it a B because OF FOSTER HOMES AND FLIES and WALLFLOWER are absolute grand slams, which both get A's. Regardless, SKULLFACE BOY is still a home run.
