Cavallaro's Cavalcade of Carnage
I'm back! Missed me?

I'm currently in a Holiday Inn computer with a timer ticking down from 40 minutes in the bottom right corner of the screen. I assume this means the internet shut off in 40 minutes (now 37 minutes...) Or...maybe its a far worse countdown...

Anyway, lets get started. I know you guys missed me complaining about books that I hate. It was women in horror month, so you will notice a trend here. I only read 6 books in February and you're about to discover why:

1: The Feast of All Saints by Anne Rice. I have had a difficult past with Anne Rice's stuff, despite really liking Interview with the Vampire. This was a historical drama that was overly long and overly boring. Grade: D

2: Monstress by Marjorie Liu (graphic novel). This is one of those examples where I don't love the material but it's easy to see how someone else could. The art is spectacular, but the story has a lot of moving pieces. Perfect if you're into huge, epic, mythological storylines. Grade: C

3: The Devil Crept In by Ania Ahlborn. Ahlborn continues her streak of great books. I've also read Within These Walls and Brother. Brother is my favorite so far, but this one is very good. Grade: B

4: True Crime by Samantha Kolesnik. What a debut! Grade: B

5: The Silent Companions by Laura Purcell. A recent release, but written in the old gothic style. Not a fan. The plot wasn't very interesting anyway. Grade: D

6: The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein by Kiersten White. Same problems as The Silent Companions, only the language wasn't quite so dense. Grade: D

WORST: The Feast of All Saints by Anne Rice

I had three books with a "D" rating this month, so it was a toss up as to which was the least enjoyable. None of these three books were engaging, but the Anne Rice book was joyless for a much longer time because of the rather large page count, so I will give the "win" to her.

*drum roll*

BEST: True Crime by Samantha Kolesnik

Jack Ketchum meets Of Mice and Men. Believe the hype folks. Everyone is talking about this book for good reason.

Done! and with 18 minutes to spare!
