Bryan is a quiet and humble guy.  Very nice and gracious with fans, fun to hang around with.  Glad to see he's coming back!

This is definitely shaping up to be the best year yet.  So glad we made the gut decision last summer to come back.

I've talked quite a bit here about my struggles with drinking. I've been up and down with it for years. For the last three years I basically fell off the wagon and relapsed at the Scares That Care Convention. I told myself that I could handle it, that I could go back to abstinence. And I do. For a while. Then I go ahead and decide to have some one night. Then another. And soon I am drinking on a regular basis again.

I guess I have an addictive personality. Be it books, records, collecting in general...I don't have much of a limit switch.

Today is six months since I have had a drink. It feels great, but it was a struggle. When you have imbibed in the grape for as long and as vigorously as I have, it takes a long, long time to get over it. I'm still working on it.

I can't do it this year. I will go to the con, and I will have fun. And I will not, can not, drink. Life is too good without it. It really is better without alcohol and drugs. Not that drugs were ever really a problem with me.

It's going to be tough. I may retire to my room with a book early. I may hang out in the bar and at parties all night. I may jump in my car and go for a ride to clear my head. I may do a lot of things, but drinking won't be one of them. Not this time.

This will be the real test for me. I'll get through it and be stronger for it. I apologize in advance if I am going to be a party pooper.

Yet I will go to readings, meet and hang out with friends and authors. I will buy books. I will eat well. I will laugh and talk about horror and everything else that comes into conversations. I can't wait.

I understand, and I appreciate your honesty, man. As you know, I don't begrudge anyone who drinks, and as you also know, I don't drink myself, at least not more than one drink in an evening. So what I'm saying is there'll be a seat next to me in the bar/restaurant, or wherever else we decide to hang out at the hotel. Like you, I absolutely cannot wait for STC4. It is going to be several steps beyond epic!  Smiley
