Who is Jack H. Harris? Every true blue horror fan should know that one off the top of their heads.

First and foremost, forever and ever amen, Harris was the producer of The Blob. The original, which was a plastic age classic. He also produced the lunatic Beware: The Blob, and the very well done Blob remake.

In addition to that, Jack H. Harris produced The 4-D Man, Eyes of Laura Mars, Equinox, Dark Star. He produced the very funny first feature from John Landis, Schlock. Speaking of schlock, Harris served as Producer on Fred Olen Ray's Prison Ship.

Jack Harris was in the Army in World War II, working in Intelligence.

His daughter, Lynda, owns The Wonderful Company, which makes POM Wonderful juice and Fiji Water. So, presumably, his later years were in comfort.

Jack H. Harris, the man who unleashed The Blob upon an unsuspecting world in 1958, died on March 14, 2017. He was ninety-eight years old. A good, long, life for one who gave us so much.

Never heard of him before now, but I was certainly a fan of his films. R.I.P.
