I just finished the brand new one, Endgame. Holy cow. It took the wind out of me.

It broke my heart, and my emails with Bill this evening hurt even more.

I love Pronzini, but I have not read a nameless detective novel. For some reason, and it's a lack of my looking into it in detail I guess, I haven't been as interested in those as his stand alone novels.

The Nameless Detective stories are at the top of my list of favorite reading material of my entire life.

OK, I'll say it: I won't go into specifics, but this is it. The end of the series. Endgame.

If anyone is interested, here is my farewell piece to Nameless.

Never hoid'a him.  Wink

In the middle of a mini Nameless run right now, having read books 10 and 11, and jumping right into book 12.

Excellent piece, Mark.  Really glad you wrote it out shortly after reading the most recent one and realizing Nameless' time was over.  Very honest and heartfelt essay.

Oddly enough, Mark...your pain may be other readers gain. I am way more likely to delve into a series once I know that it's finished, odd as that may sound. I already own two of the CD novellas, and after hearing you rave about the series for years, this gives me a perfect reason to try the Nameless books out. Hopefully they're available digitally at a reasonable price.

I can only speak for the early ones, but the last three Kindle editions I bought were $6.99.  Perhaps a little pricey considering the novels are usually in the 150-175 page range, but I can dig it.

And, now that I think about it, the first few may have been $9.99 when I bought them?  His e-books seem to fall under multiple publishers' umbrellas.

Good God! You're a lot more forgiving than I am, Andy...$2.99 is the max I will pay for something that I can't hold in my hand. (Keep your dirty comments to yourselves, you pervs!) Huh

Yeah, I'll buy an e-book at any price if it's at all cheaper than the physical book.

In the case of Nameless, the out-of-print early paperbacks used to sell for anywhere between $25-100, depending on your luck.  Because the secondary market was so high, I was fine paying the e-book prices.
