Thunderstorm Books is starting a new line of publications called The Elemental Series. They will be available in affordable trade paperback form and the first in the series will be called Just Like Hell, by Nate Southard. There's a special for this item for Horror Drive-In users: The cover price is $10.95, with shipping. Order direct and you can get it for eight bucks and you'll receive free shipping (continental US only). That's like getting a dealer's discount on the book! All you have to do is Paypal the $8.00 to info@thunderstormbooks.com and give your Horror Drive-In username in the Comments section of the Paypal invoice. Do not order through the website. International buyers or non-Paypal users should email at the same address for case by case information on ordering. I don't know the work of Nate Southard, but I hear very good things about him. And I'm always ready and willing to give a new author a shot. Especially for a reasonable price. I hope that everyone takes advantage of this offer. Thunderstorm is a startup company and the owner is a good guy that truly loves the genre. We need more people like him. People that offer books that don't cost the consumer an arm and a leg. In addition to the discounts, I'm keeping this thread stickied to use for discussion of Just Like Hell. The story as well as the publication. What you liked, what you didn't. I promise that Paul Goblirsch will take all serious suggestions to heart. Just Like Hell is a 99 page perfectbound trade paperback and has a cover by Alex McVey and an Introduction by Norman Partridge. Here's a brief description: Dillon has the world on a string. With a record-breaking football season and several scholarship offers in his pocket, he can write his own future.
But Dillon has a secret, something he’s never told the rest of his team. Even his best friends don’t know. They might not understand. They might overreact.
Now the secret is out. Maybe that’s why Dillon just woke up in the trunk of a car.
And maybe that’s why Dillon is about to go through something Just Like Hell. And here's what they're saying about Nate Southard and Just Like Hell: Nate Southard is one of the best new writers of his generation, and something new by him is always cause for celebration. I'm a big fan. - Brian Keene, author of Dark Hollow and Ghost Walk
Just Like Hell is a vicious and disturbing work of prose in which the economy of language works like a finely honed blade, separating muscle from bone. Fans of Jack Ketchum, Thomas Tessier and Ed Lee have a new name to look for in Nate Southard. Southard's work is brutal, horrific, beautiful and moving - just like life. - Lee Thomas, Lambda Literary Award and Bram Stoker Award-winning author of Stained, Parish Damned and The Dust of Wonderland.
Nate Southard writes with the no-nonsense intensity and the confident swagger of a bare-knuckle boxer. - Chris Golden, author of The Myth Hunters and Wildwood RoadThanks for your interest and, again, I hope that everyone gives serious consideration to this offer. If it's a success, maybe there'll be more like it in the future.
