Back to the Dark Masques possibility (which should contain: Masques and Masques II).  If this book is still being done, it would contain works by a ton of awesome writers:

Stephen King, Robert R. McCammon, Robert Bloch, Dennis Etchison, Gene Wolfe, F. Paul Wilson, Ramsey Campbell, Mort Castle, William F. Nolan, Robert Bloch, Richard Matheson, David B. Silva, G. Wayne Miller, James Kisner, Douglas E. Winter, Richard Christian Matheson, Ray Russell, Stanley Wiater, Joe R. Lansdale, Katherine Ramsland, Mort Castle, James Herbert, Dennis Hamilton, Charles R. Saunders, Ardath Mayhar, Steve Rasnic Tem, Thomas F. Monteleone, Richard Matheson, John Robert Bensink, J. N. Williamson, Thomas Sullivan, Alan Rodgers, Jessica Amanda Salmonson, David Knoles, Ray Russell, Charles L. Grant, Gahan Wilson, William F. Nolan, Ray Bradbury, and possibly more.

IN OTHER WORDS:  This gives Cemetery Dance A LOT of wiggle room when they say "we have future unannounced projects coming soon from (insert an above name like Stephen King)"  Any name on that list could mean this project/book.

There is a lot of room for excitement if this gets signed by almost everyone.  All I know is that the book has been in the works since at least 2007 per the Publisher's Weekly article.  I might assume that this will be available as a Trade edition, signed edition, and lettered edition.  Maybe just the Lettered will be signed by most, but if the Signed limited edition is only signed by J. N. Williamson, then there would be no need for a Trade Edition (in my opinion).... just because the Masque anthologies are still available (used).

I've never read the Masque anthologies, but they are full of great writers... and I assume great stories.

They are indeed fantastic anthologies.  People should track them down (or buy the upcoming CD collection) if they haven't read them yet.  You won't be disappointed.

I've got some credit with this one as a possibility... unless they announce some of my other favorite names (Burke, Hautala, Kelly, etc)...

I just re-upped with the 2010 version of the Early Reader's Club......I was very happy with the 2009 club, and this year's selection sounds pretty good. Grin

OOPS - just got the email today for the 5 ARCs for $65 (including S/H) - a much better deal than the 3 ARC offer.

Please let us know what you get.   Azn

I have the Darker Masques arc. It's very nice-looking and seems as if it will be an oversized edition, ala October Dreams or The Devil's Wine.

Why a trade edition of this? That's simple. The old hardcovers are now expensive and you need this in a durable edition. The fiction in the Masques series represents some of the finest ever published in the field. Just look at that list of contributors! Chances are very good that I'll buy the real thing when it is released.

And oh yes, it is the first two Masques volumes, with a new Introduction by Gary Braunbeck.

Yes, I just got an email about the "Cemetery Dance Early Readers Club 2010" too $49.00 + $16.00 shipping + $10 off each final book if you want them (some  have been announced and some of them haven't) (up to $50 of coupons).

The five books:
* An "Out of Print before publication" book (obviously already announced)

* An "unannounced title that will be a must-have for Stephen King fans"

* A book by "one our favorite authors who has been with us since nearly the beginning of Cemetery Dance" (might already be announced)

* A "new novella that is already receiving great acclaim" (might already be announced)

* A "Brand New original anthology featuring Bentley Little, Ed Gorman, Norman Partridge" and many others"... "which is also currently unannounced" (oooh, nice)

So there are at least two more unannounced books, a Stephen King related book (could be non-fiction, could be something else), and a Brand New original anthology.  Which could be a new Shivers book or something else entirely... of course, the last time we saw those three together, it was a Best of Cemetery Dance book!

I have the Darker Masques arc.

"Darker" or "Dark" or... BOTH?

The "Out-of-print-before-publication", I suspect, is the slipcased HC they owe us from the 2008 Book Club. It's supposed to be a book that was going to Book Club members and people who bought some other special offer, so all the copies would be gone without any being offered for individual order....

Actually, they're not expensive at all, Mark -- and that's why it's puzzling to me that they're putting this one out.  One can go to ABE.com, do a search for MASQUES and MASQUES II with keyword "Maclay," and you'll find numerous Near Fine and Fine 1st ed. copies with NF and F dustjackets for $10 and under (and some above).  Like most horror "collectibles", these didn't even hold their original value.  So if one can easily pickup both volumes for $20 or under, I can't figure out why someone would pay twice that (or more).  I'm sure CD must have thought of this as well, so I'm not clear why they went this route rather than an original anthology.  I don't dispute that they're terrific volumes -- one of the better anthology series, to be sure -- but I'm not sure I understand the economic impetus (for CD) in their reprint.

Maybe that's why it's been several years since they printed the ARCs, but it hasn't come out yet....

Another possible unannounced book (Stephen King related, at that) (mentioned on Kevin Quigley's resume http://www.kevinquigley.net/resume/)

The Illustrated Stephen King Movie Trivia Book (Mr. Quigley's resume says it is a Cemetery Dance Publications release)

After some more digging to get verification, I found a (not too fancy) webstie for it:
http://www.stephenkingtrivia.com/
The site says that it is to be Edited by Brian Freeman, Hans-Åke Lilja, and Kevin Quigley.

It also says, "The editors can't announce more publication details just yet, but this book will have many features in common with The Illustrated Stephen King Trivia Book," could one of those commonalities be getting published by Cemetery Dance?  I think so.

Since Quigley's site says it is a CD release, I am adding it to the unannounced section.

Yep this one has been in the works for a while. CD put up posts for people to send in trivia on King's movies about a year, maybe more, ago. Just like they did with the regular trivia book they are getting the fans input for the trivia.

With all of these announced, unannounced books, and different year's book clubs, I've lost track of how many books are owed the 2008 Club.  Is it just The Innswich Horror, or is there another book due us?Huh
