With all of these announced, unannounced books, and different year's book clubs, I've lost track of how many books are owed the 2008 Club. Is it just The Innswich Horror, or is there another book due us? The 2008 CD Book Club Members rec'd: 6 books, including an ARC, of the 13 books they were to receive during 2008 In 2009, we rec'd 5 more. Hopefully, some time in 2010 we will receive: THE INNSWICH HORROR and the "unannounced" - slipcased book "worth at least $75" Jan

I added another set of books I forgot about... that most people probably don't care about, but probably aren't finishsed yet. The Ronald Kelly one-of-a-kind personalized hardcover limited editions. The 9/22/09 announcement made it sound like at least three were sold (maybe even 6 or more), and two more were available. You could buy 1 copy of your book for $900.00 or save some money and get 10 copies of your book for $3,750.00 (only $375.00 a book). These books are probably going to be the most rare Cemetery Dance and Ronald Kelly books ever. Can you be a collector of either and not have them? ha ha. Too bad these " editions will NEVER be available to the general public." I'd love to see how these turn out. I wonder if Ron will get PC copies for his personal collection... What I find really cool about these is "Ron will hold onto all rights to the stories, too, so you might even see your story in one of his future collections." As long as this happens, I'll be okay that I couldn't afford to purchase one of these. Ha ha. Of course, Ron could choose to never republish them too. Edit to add, per Ronald Kelly's blog, there are 12 of these being done.

And I'm finding it extremely challenging as well. I'm accustomed to writing about the South. Setting stories in Australia, Germany, etc. are a horse of a different color. Also, using real people and their day-to-day reality is much different from conjuring it purely from your imagination. But I'm enjoying it immensely. And I'd say you'll end up reading them sooner or later. Maybe even in a collection or something...

...CD has had a terrible track record now for a few years and people still continue to order from them and defend them....CD still has books that were announced ten years ago waiting to be published.
From what I understand, 5 to 10 Years ago CD was doing great. So, I assume that the books that are over 5 to 10 years old have other problems than the ones people are making theories of now. I think the main problem with the older titles is contributors: authors, artists, or editors. But it might also be copyright laws, or something else that is holding things up. Heck, one author admitted on his blog in 2005 that he hadn't finished writing his contribution that was announced years before, and now, in Feb 2010, he just mentioned the book again for the first time in five years: stating that he hoped it was finsihed by 2011. How frustrating is that for CD? CD really had a darn good reason to change their policy about having a finished manuscript. When you can't trust an author / artist / editor to finish their contribution, it is a must. Of course, over time, they know who they can trust to get their jobs done. Yes, they broke their new policy last year to announce a Brian Keene book and a Ray Garton book that weren't finished, but I would guess that was because they knew they could trust them to get the job done. From what I understand, Brian Keene recently turned in his final draft. I don't know for sure about Garton's, but the site says, "He's working on the final draft now." I believe things are moving forward at CD. They recently updated their Coming Soon page, and that is a positive thing. Now, if we could just get a nice stack of books in the mail.

Sorry Ant, I don't buy your rationale: I think you're in denial over the positive things you believe are coming from CD. This has been going on for waaaayyy too long for me. You know, I've heard insanity defined as "doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result." Well, CD has been doing the same thing over and over and you're still expecting a different result! No offense to you, just pointing out to me what's blatantly obvious.
