TRUE BLOOD never hooked me, unfortunately, Chris. I did watch it through to the end of the first season, but I always had something going on while my wife watched it in the background. Didn't really pay a whole lot of attention to it, and it doubt I'll go out of my way to see any future seasons. As to what I'm currently: READING: Just finished THE SHOTGUN RULE, by Charlie Huston, a few minutes ago. It was pretty cool, especially since I've been on such a crime/noir kick lately, but I don't know if I have any desire to read any more of his work. I just don't get why some authors think it's "cool" to not use quotation marks. Really irks me. But I know that's just me. Next up is probably THE MIDNIGHT ROOM by Ed Gorman. One can never go wrong with Gorman! WATCHING: The wife took me to see INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS for my birthday the night before last. Loved it. Also just finished up the fifth season of THE OFFICE. Awesome. Watched SLITHER, after finding it at Big Lots for 3 bucks. I remember not being too crazy about it when we saw it in the theater, but I figured it was worth 3 bucks, and I did like it a lot more the second time around. Also picked up THE WOODS and THE WOODSMAN for the same price. Never saw the former, have seen the latter. LISTENING: Carfax Abbey's IT SCREAMS DISEASE, The Dead Weather's HOREHOUND, and a tons of live bootlegs of The Cult. J.N.

Bill ! I posted that for Peteee couple months ago ! Satch be da MAN and I simply adore Grace. That gal can sing like a MUTHA ! Here, get past the beginning, bout two minutes, and this song kicks serious ass. I know, I know, I wore that Cortez video out too as well as this one---Boobies ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYrdfFpxTXQReading THE BACKWOODS by Ed Lee, watching football and listening to SLOBBERBONE. I can't get enough of these guys. Take The Replacement/Social D. spliced with David Lowery/Shane Macgowen, controlled, soul-filled leads, feed to the meanest bull in Texas, set results on a barstool with a ragged, cynical, bitter Jesus tending, Henry Lee Lucas on one side, Bukouski on the other, necklace of ten years worth of 12-step chips with 45 caliber holes in them facing a torn black and white photo of the ripping-heart-out gal and you got SLOBBERBONE. Call it homicidal, whiskey-soaked, chicked-fried Social Distortion by way of early Westerburg with a lightening-fast lead guitarist who can also play slower bluesy riffs to make your mama weep.
