Okay, this sub-genre of the genre has not impressed me yet. From what I've gathered, Cthulhu is one of the Great Old Ones created by H.P. Lovecraft and the mythos contains a ton of unpronouncable names (like r'gnotdseqsfqz nagsik'dk etc, ha ha). There have been a lot of writers who have picked up on the mythos and a lot of fiction has been written. I know some people LOVE this stuff. There is even a whole Convention for it... and it is local to me, but I don't know if I'd want to go! Maybe I started with the wrong book, Brian Lumley's Titus Crow: The Burrowers Beneath. I hated this book. There I said it. I found parts interesting, but it could have been so much better in many ways. Okay, I reneg, I didn't "hate" it, it just really bored me after awhile. I felt no tension or fear… and no real interest to keep reading. I finished it, and felt really satisfied that it was over. It has turned me off from reading any more Lumley or Cthulhu related books. I have some H. P. Lovecraft sitting in my TBR pile, and James A. Moore's Deeper. But now, I don't feel as happy about having them available to read. What Cthulhu books/stories, if any, do you recommend to people?
